Hi. My name is Amy. I really love butter. I’ve wanted a food blog for a long, long time. I finally decided to start it. And of course the blog had to somehow work my name into it. So here you are at Buttered BlasphAmy. Welcome.

A little about me: I’m a completely self-taught baker, and I couldn’t be here writing this blog today if it weren’t for Google, Food Network, and a lot of trial and error. Unlike many bakers out there, I don’t have any stories about baking with mother or grandmother in the kitchen. My journey started with a simple banana bread recipe, which I still make to this day, and a love for all things culinary. My parents had Thai restaurants while I was growing up, so I think it was only natural for me to venture down some food-related path.

While this blog focuses mainly on baking, you will find a number of cooking adventures as well. I can’t say that I’m well-versed in cooking techniques, but I love trying them out when I learn about them. Sometimes I will attempt to recreate my favorite home-cooked dishes and for that I definitely have to thank my parents. I think they sometimes think I only call home for recipes! But anyway, I also love trying new restaurants, so you will see some reviews floating around too.

I shoot my photos in my kitchen with my humble Canon point-and-shoot camera. I’m using this blog as an opportunity to develop my photography skills too, purposely limiting my equipment to force myself to be creative with lighting and angles. Let me know how they look!

In the end, this blog is my way of spreading culinary love to people far and wide, as well as to my own dear friends. The best I can hope for is that my adventures, misadventures, and recollections will reach some of you out there and inspire you to go out and try something new.

Get out of your comfort zone. There’s so much food out there and so little time.
